This par three plays only 197 yards from the back tees and is surrounded by water hazards on three sides. Chippewa Golf Course offers its most difficult hole as the last stop on Gold Eagle. Cobalt Course at Granite Ridge

9503 Dublin Line,
Milton, ON L9T 2X7 Canada

Granite Ridge Golf Club is located on the beautiful Niagara Escarpment in Milton, ON. We are a 36-hole facility offering challenging layouts that can play up to 6500 yards. Designed by renowned Canadian golf course architects Rene Muylaert and Dick Kirkpatrick, Granite Ridge opened its doors to the public on July 1, 1996. The architects designed a user-friendly course with playability and tournaments in mind. Quick undulating greens, menacing water hazards and most of all superior customer service await you and your invited guests. Cobalt Course Our Cobalt course is a Par 72 layout that can play up to 6500 yards from the Blue tees. The 1st hole offers up a challenging risk/reward type of shot on this dogleg left par 4. The lengthy par 5 4th hole features "out-of-bounds" down the entire left hand side, with 2 strategically placed ponds guarding your approach shot to the green. The par 4 12th hole boasts a menacing water hazard that stretches down the right hand side of the hole so an accurate tee shot is a must here. The par 4 18th hole is a medium length dog-leg right that rewards an accurate tee shot to the corner of the dog-leg. The player is then faced with one final challenge as they play their approach shot to a heavily guarded green with bunkers all around. The Cobalt course is sure to test your every ability as you enjoy the scenery on the Niagara Escarpment. Ruby Course Our Ruby course is a Par 70 layout that can play up to 5900 yards from the Blue Tees. Water comes into play on 14 of the 18 holes on the Ruby course. The term Risk/reward best describes this course that begins with a short but challenging 1st hole where the player must decide on laying up or attempting to carry the large pond on the left side of the hole. The par 5 4th hole is heavily guarded with trees and fairway bunkers on your 1st and 2nd shots while the pond behind the green will rinse any balls that carry too far on your approach shot. The par 3 9th hole plays up to 174 yards with trees on either side of the green and a large pond in the back. The par 4 11th hole is another risk/reward type of hole. A long tee shot leaves a short iron approach to the green but be careful of the ponds on the left and right as you hit your tee shot. Our par 3 17th hole is truly one the most beautiful holes on the golf course as it's nestled underneath the Niagara Escarpment. It features a pond and bunkers in front with a menacing hazard behind the green. An accurate tee shot is a must here. The Ruby course is fair but challenging to even the most seasoned golfer.

Hidden Lake Golf Club - New Course

1137 1 Side Rd,
Burlington, ON L7R 3X4 Canada

Formerly known as the Lake Medad Golf and Country Club, Hidden Lake Golf Club opened its doors as a straightforward, albeit enjoyable, 18-hole layout in 1962. Purchased in 1979 by the current ownership, the course was more appropriately renamed the Hidden Lake Golf Club after the lake that inconspicuously flows alongside the finishing holes of what is now referred to as the “Old Course". Much has changed since 1962 as Hidden Lake Golf Club has expanded into two exceptional, but very distinct, championship courses that cover over 500 acres of picturesque Niagara Escarpment landscape. The atmosphere inside the clubhouse is warm and friendly; the clubhouse caters to both individuals and groups alike. On the New Course, water comes into play on four holes, but it is the contoured greens that provide the real difference. The New Course is more of a target golf course. You must be constantly thinking about where you want to position yourself for your next shot. Numerous ponds, bunkers and long fescue grasses give the New Course a links-style feel. It measures 6,645 yards. Get through the first two holes on the New Course in even par and you are off to a marvelous start. Two back-to-back par-4's are as tough as they get, 468 yards and 459 yards from the back tees leave you with a long second shot to have a go at par. Number seven is the longest hole on the New Course, measuring a daunting 588 yards makes it virtually unreachable in two. This par-5, dogleg left also happens to be the most difficult hole on the course and deservingly so. Off the tee, your drive is straight away. It is from this point on that the hole displays its true character. The likelihood of recording a par hinges on the quality of your second shot. Length and accuracy are required otherwise you will have a clear approach to the wide and shallow green guarded by a small front bunker. Large trees can be found on either side of the green, and it is this that makes this the most difficult approach shot you will hit all day. Good luck on this hole! The front nine concludes with the signature hole on the golf course. The wind is usually a factor and is frequently against you on this 221-yard, par-3. Your approach is all carry - water guards the front of an undulating green. Extensive mounding lurks to the back of the hole providing the perfect location for three well-placed bunkers, leaving no alternative but to land your ball on the green. On the back nine of the New Course, water figures in on three holes but nowhere as prominently as on the 509-yard, par-5, 14th hole. For this reason, hole No. 14 is rated the number one stroke hole. Off the tee, an expansive fairway awaits, lined by fescue down the entire right side. Reaching the green in two is possible, however, a large pond flows dangerously close to the front of the green. In addition to the pond, the bunkers and fescue further fortify this downward sloping green. The 18th hole is a good finishing hole that provides one final, opportunity to record a birdie. The right side of the fairway is home to a nest of nasty little bunkers from which a decent tee shot will get you to the 200 yard marker. Should your tee shot be in the middle or left side of the fairway, there is an opening to the green between bunkers to run one up. Both courses can be attacked from five different tee positions, offering you as much or as little course as you feel like tackling.
Hidden Lake Golf Club - Old Course

1137 1 Side Road,
Burlington, ON L7R 3X4 Canada

As the name implies, the Old Course is a throwback to bygone golf. The Old Course follows much of its original routing. The addition of tournament tees, strategically-placed bunkers, and extensive tree planting have immensely improved the course and "toughened it up". This course certainly deserves its championship-calibre billing. Measuring 6,712 yards, the golf course is very mature and features lush, tree-lined fairways and small greens. The par-4, first hole is indicative of what you can expect to encounter on the Old Course. Trees line either side of the fairway extending 397 yards to a frugal, bunker-protected green. The Old Course features four, par-5s all of which measure 500 yards or more. The 541-yard, hole No. 6 is one of the longest and arguably the most difficult hole on the Old Course. A sharp dogleg right you must strategically play for position by veering to the left-centre of the fairway. If you're considering reaching the green in two, you better cut the right corner and carry the cluster of trees that line this side of the fairway. Should you decide to play more conservatively leave yourself a full wedge to hold the undulating green. The back nine begins with another formidable par-5. The 548-yard, hole No. 10 requires you to split the fairway off the tee and later position yourself to the right of the 150-yard marker as maple trees guard the corner of this sharp dogleg left. The green is small and well guarded on the front left by two bunkers. Ask any member to pick a hole that seems to stand apart from the rest, the overwhelming favourite seems to be the 185-yard, par-3, 14th hole. Despite its soothing appearance, this punishing par-3 requires perfection off the tee. Your approach is to a postage stamp-sized green situated atop a small embankment encircled by dense forest and a large hillside bunker. If you miss your target be prepared to record a double bogey or worse on your scorecard. The 16th and 17th holes are challenging par-4s that measure 395 and 419 yards respectively. Both holes provide you with a glimpse of the "hidden" lake through the trees that line the right side of the fairways. The final hole on the Old Course is a straightforward 189-yard, par-3 that provides some relief to those who found the two previous holes overly severe. Proper club selection is crucial as there may be a two-club differential depending on the position of the flag stick and the intensity of the wind.

Knollwood Golf Club - Old

1276 Shaver Rd.,
Ancaster, ON L9G 3L1 Canada

Knollwood Golf and Country Club was founded in 1970 by Jack Harris, one of the most respected golf course superintendents in Canadian history. After serving as head superintendent for 12 years at St. Georges Golf Club in Toronto – where he held the 1949 Canadian Open – Jack moved to Ancaster years later and took over the most coveted of all superintendent positions at the venerable Hamilton Golf and Country Club where he remained for 17 years. In 1967 Jack and his wife Hazel purchased a 50-acre farm on Shaver Road in Ancaster and began to work a 9-hole layout onto the property. With his sons Jim and John he planted thousands of trees, and there amidst the natural beauty of the land, he laid out a course of memorably distinct golf holes. The New Course at Knollwood was founded in 1989 by Jack Harris and his son Jim and is adjoined to the Old Course. A beautiful piece of property to begin with, it was enhanced by planting thousands of trees throughout this unique 18 hole layout and the club opened to the public for play in 1992. Keeping to the philosophy of working with the land, the New Course holds stunning topographical vistas and elevated tee shots. Designed with a good challenge in mind, Jack made note of some of the more interesting golf greens he had played the world over and duplicated some of them at the New Course. Although the New Course is more of a challenge than the Old, it still plays well to golfers of all abilities.

St. Marys Golf and Country Club

769 Queen Street E,
St. Marys, ON N4X1B6 Canada

The St. Marys Golf & Country Club is located on the edge of St. Marys, Ontario, a small picturesque community of almost 7,000 residents where the Thames River meets Trout Creek. The club officially opened on July 1, 1932, after the formation of the club in October 1931 and the subsequent purchase of the property we are on today. While the grounds were initially surveyed in 1927 by Fred Lofft and Stanley Thompson, a shortage of local golfer (only 30 in town) delayed the next steps. Only a nine-hole golf course at the start, green fees for 18 holes were 50 cents on weekdays, 75 cents on weekends, or one dollar to play all day. Under private ownership since 1993, the golf course has been continuously upgraded. In 1994, we rounded out the golf course to the 18 superlative holes we have today. Designed by David Moote, of Moote & Associates, the new layout utilizes the rolling St. Marys topography and maintains the degree of difficulty of the original course, by adding two ponds to the two creeks already in play on the golf course. We have upgraded the golf course into one of the best semi-private facilities in Southwestern Ontario by adding paved cart paths, planting more than 500 trees, building a waterfall feature, redesigning the 17th green and 18th fairway, and regularly updating sand traps. The golf course has been highly rated in numerous newspaper and magazine articles, has become the home course for the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame. We have proudly hosted many Ontario Golf Association (OGA) events, including a qualifier tournament for the Ontario Amateur.
