Monarch Bay Golf Club

With magnificent views of the San Francisco skyline and bay, Monarch Bay Golf Club is one of the best public options in the Bay Area. The club boasts two courses -- a regulation par-71 course designed by John Harbottle called the Tony Lema Course and a nine-hole executive layout known as the Marina Course. The Tony Lema Course has six sets of tees and can play as long as 7,015 yards. Opened in 2001, the links-style layout surrounded by a natural seaside environment has paspalum fairways and bentgrass greens. Once referred to in Golf Digest Magazine as "Scotland West," the well-conditioned course has beautiful bunkering and conditioning. Approximately half the holes run along the shorelines. The Marina Course, also designed by Harbottle, is a par 30 that plays 1,734 yards. Holes range from 111 yards to the 351-yard fifth, which is one of three par 4s on the course. A lighted driving range, short-game area and practice green are also available. Monarch Bay Golf Club also has a full-service golf shop, restaurant and banquet facilities for special events like weddings.
