One of the top public courses in the St. Louis area, Gateway National Golf Club is laid out across gently rolling pastureland bordered by tall native grasses and mature cottonwood trees. The regulation 18-hole course is also set up against the backdrop of the city of St. Louis and the famous Gateway Arch. With bentgrass fairways and greens, the course, which measures 7,178 yards from the back tees, is usually in great condition, too. Designed by Keith Foster and Kevin Hargrave, the par-72 course, which opened in 1998, has a links feel to it. Bunkers are used sparingly and water comes into play on a few holes. There are no homes on the course, either. Gateway National Golf Links also offers a driving range, short-game area and practice putting green. The clubhouse features a golf shop and restaurant with an open-faced kitchen that serves a seasonal lunch menu with great views of the course.
