Rated the No. 1 Course Layout in 2018, Mission Inn Resort & Club - El Campeon in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida, is one of the South’s oldest golf courses. Designed by George O’Neil in 1917 with further enhancements in 1926 by Charles E. Clark, El Campeon blends unusual Central Florida elevation changes of more than 85 feet with traditional golf features like rolling fairways, undulating greens and water on all but five holes. The signature par 5, 17th hole is a long double dogleg that juts right and then back left with a green placed across a water hazard, making it almost impossible to try to reach in two shots. This Florida classic is a must play for all golfers looking to experience the best the state has to offer.
