The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Silver Lakes is in Glencoe, Alabama, set on rolling terrain on the edge of Talladega National Forest between Anniston and Gadsden. Golf Digest's Places to Play named Silver Lakes, which features three championship nines plus a nine-hole short course, one of the nation's Great Value courses. The facility is anchored by a number of strong par 4s that play to pedestal greens perched 30 to 40 feet above fairway level. Many consider the Heartbreaker nine the most challenging nine on the Trail from the championship tees. Consider the 448-yard, par 4 ninth, where water ripples down the entire left side of the hole. The shot to the green must be accurate to stay out of the lake. The Backbreaker nine is a photographer's dream, boasting beautiful views of the Appalachian foothills from its elevated tees. You'll know exactly how the Backbreaker course got its name by the time you hit your approach on the first hole. The green sits steeply above the fairway.
