The Stone Mountain Golf Club is in Stone Mountain, Georgia, a half-hour northeast of Atlanta and set in the shadows of the South's most spectacular mountain monument. Its two championship courses offer spectacular views of historic Stone Mountain, and both have challenged and delighted golfers for over 30 years. Both golf courses have bent grass greens with Bermuda fairways and tees. The Lakemont Course is the more scenic of the two courses, with a sporty, open layout. John LaFoy designed the course, which is maintained at a championship level. A round of golf here offers splendid views of Stone Mountain Lake (holes #1, #3, #4, #5 and #6 border it) and the Confederate Memorial Carving, the world's largest high-relief sculpture, depicting three Civil War generals.
