Best Golf Courses Near Greeley, CO
Named for the former editor of the New York Tribune who came west during the Pike’s Peak golf rush of the 1800s, Greeley is a city that was founded as an experimental utopian society. The town got its name from Horace Greeley, who popularized the phrase, “Go west, young man,” as he arrived here in the 1800s. Today, Greeley, known as the agricultural center of the country for its sugar beet production, boasts a laid-back atmosphere with plenty to do, including festivals and outdoor activities. With a population of around 100,000 people, the city sits about 50 miles northeast of Denver on the Poudre River. Downtown is home to excellent restaurants, breweries and coffee shops. And Greeley can also boast its annual Agriculture Fest and Feast, a celebration of the community’s agricultural heritage, as well as the Greeley Stampede, a nearly century-old northern Colorado tradition featuring rodeos, concerts and other activities. The golf in the Greeley area is plentiful too, with courses like Boomerang Links and Highland Hills Golf Course, a 7,100-yard layout open to the public.
