Best Golf Courses Near Orange, CT
Orange, Connecticut, a suburban town located just west of New Haven, is surrounded by golf courses that welcome tee times. The best course in Orange’s orbit is Yale Golf Course, a broad-shouldered, exquisitely designed US top-100 layout. Alas, Yale Golf Course is private, though Connecticut residents are able to gain access. As for courses everyone can play, two local favorites are Orange Hills Country Club, which combines nine holes that opened in the 1920s with nine more than were completed in 1961, and The Tradition Golf Club at Oak Lane, a challenging layout with strategically placed bunkers and nice greens in Woodbridge. Grassy Hill Country Club is a highly playable, generously wide playing field that spreads out on rolling hills. After golf, the most notable nearby attractions are in New Haven. On the majestic Yale University campus, don’t miss the Peabody Museum of Natural History and the Yale University Art Museum. There’s a vineyard in Orange—Strappa Vineyard—that has a tasting room. Orange is a quiet place with a walkable downtown. The Orange Center Historic District includes buildings from the 1800s as it fans out from the Town Green. The annual Orange Country Fair each September celebrates the town’s agrarian roots.
