Best Golf Courses Near Evansville, IN
Known as the “River City” because of its location on an oxbow of the Ohio River, Evansville is the regional hub for the Tri-State area of Indiana, Kentucky and Illinois. This city of just under 120,000 residents has much going for it. It’s home to the University of Indiana as well as the University of Evansville, which besides its academics is known for its excellent college basketball teams over the years. Named by at least one publication as one of the best cities to “live, work and play,” Evansville has a zoo, botanical gardens, plenty of great restaurants and pubs, the state’s first casino and historic Bosse Field, a minor league ballpark that was built in 1915. There are also plenty of terrific golf courses in Evansville and the surrounding area. A couple of municipal courses lead the way for courses open to the public. John H. Fendrich Golf Course is a 1945 William Diddle design that plays just under 6,000 yards, while Helfrich Hills Golf Course, which plays a little more than 6,300 yards, is a 1923 Tom Bendelow creation.
