Known as the “Heart of the Commonwealth” because of its geographically central location in the state, Worcester, with a little more than 200,000 residents, is the second largest city in New England. It is home of several colleges and universities, including the College of the Holy Cross, the oldest Roman Catholic college in New England. Worcester also has a large number of 19th center triple-decker houses, Victoria-era mill architecture and lunch car diners such as Miss Worcester, a historic and poplar eating spot on Southbridge Street.
