Best Golf Courses Near Big Rapids, MI
A college town located a little more than an hour north of Grand Rapids in western Michigan, Big Rapids offers plenty of eateries, pubs and bars, museums and art galleries and outdoor recreation, including a couple of nearby state parks. The city of around 10,000 people is home to Ferris State University, which offers one of the original Professional Golf Management programs in the country. Ferris State’s home golf course, the Katke Course, not only serves the PGM students as well as faculty and students but it’s also open to the public. The beautiful 18-hole, 6,900-yard layout is supplemented with three additional holes, making it a great play for golfers of all levels. Big Rapids has other courses open to the public, including Falcon Head Golf Course and Clear Lake Golf Club, which opened in 1918. Tullymore Golf Resort, with its much heralded Jim Engh design, is another great option. It’s located just south in Stanwood.
