It should come as no surprise that the wealthy community of Bloomfield Hills has some of the best private clubs in Michigan. The hamlet of just 3,000 or so people is headlined by the iconic Oakland Hills Country Club – a 36-hole facility where the South Course, designed by Donald Ross, has played host to 17 major championships including seven U.S. Opens and a Ryder Cup. Of course, for the most part you have to be a member to play a golf course like the South at Oakland Hills, also known as the “Monster” or any of the other high-end private clubs in and around Bloomfield Hills like Bloomfield Country Club, another Ross gem.
