Best Golf Courses Near Clarkston, MI
Once named among Forbes Magazine’s best suburbs to live in, Clarkston, which is located north of Detroit, has an small-town vibe with plenty to do. With a population of just under 1,000 people, Clarkston’s downtown is a historical landmark full of quaint shops and restaurants. The city and its neighbor that surrounds it, Independence Township, offers all kinds of festivals, outdoor concerts, parades and other events. It also has a fairly stellar golf scene, starting with two 27-hole layouts open to the public. The Arthur Hills-designed Shepherd’s Hollow, which opened in 1998, is local favorite, but also draws from all over southeast Michigan. The same could be said for the Dan Pohl-designed Pine Knob Golf Club. There are dozens of other golf course choices in the area, too, including the value-driven Fountains Golf Club, which is open to the public, and the private Oakhurst Golf Club, another Hills design.
