Oxford, a village within the Oxford Charter Township of Oakland County, is an affluent suburb of Detroit. It’s a small, quiet community with its share of stores, unique restaurants and entertainment options. The area is replete with dozens of lakes, many of them formed from old gravel pits that were filled with water. Those lakes serve a variety of recreational purposes, including several golf courses that are built around them. One of the most popular is Boulder Pointe Golf Course, which has 27 holes that work their way around 15 lakes. Boulder Pointe is one of several public courses in Oxford. Others include Oxford Hills Golf & Country Club, Mulberry Hills, Devil’s Ridge and 27-hole Copper Hills Golf Club. Not far from Oxford are many more choices as well, including The Myth, Golf & Banquets in Oakland. The semiprivate facility has a regulation as well as a par-3 course. Indianwood Golf & Country Club in Oxford leads the private golf scene with two 18 holes courses, including one that goes back to 1925.
