With plenty of trails, parks, lakes, streams and hardwood forest, West Branch is a great destination for anyone looking to enjoy the outdoors. This part of northern Michigan, which is located in the Ogemaw Hills, is particularly striking in the autumn with its vibrant fall colors. That environment also helps the local golf courses stand out, and visitors and local alike has some really good choices for public golf. Two of the best are The Dream and The Nightmare courses, which are owned by two brothers. Both play around 7,000 yards from the tips, feature plenty of elevation change and are lined by beautiful trees. Another great public choice is West Branch Country Club, a Jerry Matthews design that goes back to 1928.
