Best Golf Courses Near Big Sky, MT
Though Big Sky, Montana stakes its claim to being the largest ski resort in the U.S., this remote Rocky Mountain community located 45 miles south of Bozeman is also a delightful spot for golf. Of the four courses in Big Sky, three are private. All three of the private layouts boast specular mountain settings. The area’s only public course is the Big Sky Resort Golf Course, an Arnold Palmer design on lower and flatter ground that nonetheless boasts gorgeous mountain views as it winds through a residential development. It’s a very playable layout with wide fairways, so all levels of players can enjoy it. For additional tee times, consider courses in Bozeman such as Cottonwood Hills and Bridger Creek. Besides golf, Big Sky invites visitors to enjoy horseback riding, fly fishing, hiking, mountain biking, and white water rafting on the Gallatin River. Another great way to enjoy the mountain, whether to embark on a trail or to simply take in the scenery, is to ride the chair lift. Big Sky’s hub of shopping, dining, and nightlife is the Town Center, an alpine village that is surrounded by 11,000-foot-tall peaks. Big Sky also can be a convenient base from which to explore Yellowstone Park. The park’s west entrance is just 45 miles south of the resort.
