Best Golf Courses Near Bozeman, MT
In recent years, Bozeman, Montana has begun appearing on lists of the very best places to live in the U.S. Located in southern part of Big Sky Country, Bozeman seems to have it all—gorgeous Rocky Mountain surroundings, artsy culture and a trendy downtown, and a zesty college town vibe thanks to the presence of Montana State University. While Bozeman is home to a couple of longstanding private courses, public golf came rather late to town. The area’s first public-access course, Cottonwood Hills Golf Club, a scenic layout with a creek flowing through it, required no earth moving when it was built in 1986. A creek and a few ponds call upon players to hit accurate shots at Bridger Creek Golf Course, another layout known for its beauty. About a half hour out of town, Livingston Golf Course is a popular 9-hole layout. The flat playing field, loosely lined by trees, features two holes beside the Yellowstone River. In Three Forks, Headwaters Golf Course, a 9-hole layout Golf Advisor rated #5 in Montana in 2021, features generous fairways bound by rough and cottonwood trees. After golf, the opportunities to go fishing, hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, and more are endless in Bozeman. The city’s best museum is the Museum of the Rockies, known for its peerless collection of dinosaur fossils. Downtown Bozeman is full of galleries, chic shopping, restaurants and brewpubs. The city is also a gateway to Yellowstone National Park, as both the north and west entrances are less than two hours away.
