Located on the Missouri River, the city of Great Falls, Montana, often a stopover between Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, is a popular tourist destination in its own right. For golfers, Great Falls features one private course and three public-access facilities. Anaconda Hills Golf Course, which dates back to 1926 but was updated in the 1990s, is a hilly layout with pesky rough and a tough back nine laden with tough uphill, downhill and sidehill lies. Russell Museum, a complex that includes the home and studio of the “cowboy artist” as well as a large collection of his works. Downtown Great Falls is especially vibrant in summer—the city’s population swells in August when it hosts the Montana State Fair. Sip ’n Dip Lounge, a tiki bar from the 1960s that features swimming mermaids, is one of the West’s most famous bars.
