Best Golf Courses Near Cashiers, NC
From its lofty perch at 3,500 feet above sea level, Cashiers calls itself the “Heart of the Mountains.” This otherwise very small town in the Blue Ridge Mountains 60 miles southwest of Asheville has long been a popular summer and fall retreat for well-to-do Southerners. The golf in the area fits that profile, too, for the courses are overwhelmingly private or associated with resorts that also cater to an upscale clientele and limit access to overnight guests. There is only one 18-hole course in the region where you can score a tee time, and possibly a discount—Sapphire National Golf Club. The layout is most notable for a pair of postcard-worthy holes. The 14th is a downhill par 4 that culminates at an elevated green hard by a waterfall and the 15th is a knee-knocking par 3 with an undulating island green. The only other public-access option in the area is the 9-hole par-30 executive-style Red Bird Golf Links, which is also in Sapphire. Looking on the bright side, you should have more time off the course to explore Cashiers in-town town and sublime surroundings.
