Best Golf Courses Near Waynesville, NC
About 30 miles west of Asheville, the charming town of Waynesville is a vibrant second home haven and summer retreat filled with craft galleries, artists’ studios, upscale boutiques, bookstores, antique shops, and luxury inns. Waynesville, which sits in a valley surrounded by high peaks and forests, is also a gorgeous place to golf, and if you are seeking tee times, you’re in luck. Your best bets are Lake Junaluska Golf Course, a short, sporty layout that brings the lake into play on its 1919-vintage front nine and more modern back nine; Maggie Valley Resort & Country Club, which proceeds from mostly flat terrain to highly scenic hill country that is crisscrossed by streams; and the recently renovated Springdale Country Club, a true mountain course that overlooks Cold Mountain (of literary and movie fame). Stay and play access is also possible at private courses such as Laurel Ridge Country Club, Balsam Mountain Preserve, and the Waynesville Inn. The latter had long been a popular Waynesville tee time, but it is currently closed for a Bobby Weed redesign and when it reopens sometime in 2022 it will limit non-member access to resort guests. No matter where you play, you’ll be living the high life in the mountain town of Waynesville.
