Best Golf Courses Near Minot, ND
Minot, best known for Minot Air Force Base, is a fast-growing small city on the Souris River in north-central North Dakota. The best golf course in Minot is Minot Country Club, a private club with a beautiful Jim Engh design from 2015 on the club’s new site. Among the courses that welcome tee times, Vardon Golf Club is the most intriguing—it occupies Minot Country Club’s old site that the private club abandoned after an epic flood destroyed the playing field. When the Vardon Club rebuilt the course in 2013, it restored the original front nine that Tom Vardon (brother of the legendary Harry Vardon) had designed in 1929. Minot’s other public 18 is Souris Valley Golf Course, a muni in a parkland setting. The serpentine Souris River crosses several holes. Three 9-hole courses round out Minot’s golf roster. Located at Minot Air Force Base, Rough Rider Golf Course is a player-friendly, regulation-length layout that welcomes public play. Apple Grove Golf Club is an executive-style layout and Jack Hoeven Wee Links Golf is a par 3 course built with kids in mind. Minot offers numerous attractions besides golf, including the Roosevelt Zoo, the Taube Museum of Art, and the Dakota Territory Air Museum, which showcases World War II aircraft. Downtown features many unique shops, restaurants, and bars, and a glow-in-the-dark 14-hole miniature golf course and lounge called The Putt District. Every July, Minot hosts the North Dakota State Fair.
