Best Golf Courses Near Troy, NY
Part of the Capital District of New York, Troy is a city with outdoor festivals and concerts, art galleries, parks and loads of cafes, restaurants and bars and the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, a historic landmark known for its incredible acoustics. Also known as the “Collar City” because of its history in the shirt, collar and textile industry, Troy has its share of golf courses, too, both on the public and the private side. One of the most popular is Frear Park Golf Course, a nice municipal layout that originally opened in 1931 and was redone 30 years later by Robert Trent Jones Sr. Most of the other public golf in the area is located in nearby Albany and Schenectady, which include courses like Capital Hills and 36-hole Town of Colonie respectively. The highly rated Country Club of Troy, which opened as a Walter Travis design in 1925 and was redone by Tom Doak, leads the private scene in Troy.
