Known of its numerous well-preserved historic homes, including the Sherman House Museum, Lancaster is a quiet community about 30 miles southeast of Columbus. The town, which has about 40,000 people, offers plenty of local restaurants, pubs, green space, local shopping and the Sherman House, which was the childhood home of politician and statesman John Sherman and his older brother, the Union Army general William T. Sherman. The Ohio Glass Museum, Historic Aircraft Squadron and Shallenberger State Nature Preserve are other attractions.
