Best Golf Courses Near Rock Hill, SC
Just outside of Charlotte in upstate South Carolina, the town of Rock Hill is known as “Football City, USA” because it has produced an incredible number of football players who have made it to the NFL. One of the city’s other claims to fame has to do with disc golf—the United States Disc Golf Championship has been played here since 1999. When it comes to the more traditional variety of golf, Rock Hill is home to two private courses and two public-access courses. You may be able to score a tee time discount at Pinetuck Golf Club, which spreads out over 150 acres with no parallel fairways and few houses in sight. Waterford Golf Club is a highly regarded Hale Irwin design carved out of dense woodlands. In the nearby town of Fort Mill, another suburb of Charlotte, the 27-hole Tega Cay Golf Club borders Lake Wylie. Two other Fort Mill courses afford opportunities for tee time discounts—Fort Mill Golf Club, where you’ll play distinctly different nines designed by Donald Ross and George Cobb, and Springfield Golf Club, a hilly and wooded layout that Golf Advisor rates as one of South Carolina’s top courses. After golf, you’ll want to spend time in Rock Hill’s Downtown Historic District, which is filled with buildings that pre-date the Civil War. If you prefer a host of attractions and big city nightlife, head to Charlotte, located just 25 miles from Rock Hill.
