Best Golf Courses Near Gainesville, VA
Gainesville, Virginia, located about 35 miles from Washington D.C. is best known as a shopping mecca, but it became the center of the golf universe in 1994 when the inaugural Presidents Cup was contested at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club. This private club, along with other privates such as Heritage Hunt Club and four more in nearby Haymarket dominate the local golf scene, but you’ll still have plenty of public-access options to choose from when making a tee time. Stonewall Golf Club at Lake Manassas draws raves for its gorgeous lakeside holes. Prince William Golf Club, which spreads out on gentle up and down terrain, is suitable for players of all abilities. Two other favorites among local golfers are Pleasant Valley Golf Club, located just south of Dulles Airport, and Westfields Golf Club, a tree-lined layout that looks much narrower than it is. Westfields is a fixture on Golf Advisors’ list of top Virginia courses and like all the other public layouts mentioned above, it offers tee time discounts. For discounts of another sort, throngs head to Gainesville’s gargantuan shopping center, Virginia Gateway. The town also is a lure for history and Civil War buffs who come to tour Manassas Battlefield Park, Brawner Farm Interpretive Center, and other sites in Northern Virginia. Washington’s plethora of attractions are also in range, but just make sure you have plenty of time for your Gainesville tee time.
