Best Golf Courses Near Woodbridge, VA
The Northern Virginia suburb of Woodbridge may be best known for the Potomac Mills outlet shopping mall, but it is an outdoor enthusiast’s delight thanks to numerous lovely parks and the Potomac and Occoquan rivers that partially frame the town. Golfers share in this bounty when they make tee times in and around Woodbridge. Lake Ridge Golf Course, a short, 9-hole par-3 Prince William County muni, and Old Hickory Golf Club, a parkland-style course with penal bunkers and large, wavy greens, are three miles apart in Woodbridge. One of the most prominent courses in the region is Potomac Shores Golf Club, a challenging, upscale Jack Nicklaus creation with plenty of elevation changes, blind shots, and dramatic green complexes. Nearby Lorton is home to two very popular tee times: Pohick Bay Golf Course, which features contrasting nines, and Laura Hill Golf Club, where you’ll encounter pronounced elevation changes and undulating greens on ground that used to be a prison. Laurel Hill hosted the 2013 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship. When Woodbridge residents aren’t golfing, they often look to enjoy glorious scenery, birdwatching, and recreation at Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail, Leesylvania State Park, and Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge, or, like so many people from all over, they go shopping at Potomac Mills.
