Best Golf Courses Near Oshkosh, WI
Oshkosh, in east central Wisconsin, is most famous for being the home of the Oshkosh, B’gosh children’s apparel company and for hosting the annual Experimental Aircraft Association Fly-in Convention, which sees the Oshkosh skies populated with hundreds of aircraft of all shapes and sizes. In normal years, hundreds of thousands of people come to Oshkosh for this week-long event. Golf isn’t as big a deal in Oshkosh as it is in many other Wisconsin locales. The city actually saw its muni close in 2019 but thankfully, the opening of Oshkosh Country Club to public tee times on most days of the week in 2020 has softened the blow from that loss. First opened in 1899, Oshkosh Country Club is a classic jewel with its mature trees, small greens, and meticulous conditioning. Other courses in town include Westhaven Golf Club, where water enters the fray in the form of ponds and a creek on eight holes; Far Vu Golf Course, which touts its woodland setting and its natural drainage; and Utica Golf Club, a nicely varied but predominantly flat layout with numerous doglegs and water hazards. A good option for a discounted tee time is Westridge Golf Club in neighboring Neenah, where you will encounter frequent elevation changes and abundant water hazards on a links-style playing field. B’gosh, Oshkosh is quite a place.
