Best Golf Courses Near River Falls, WI
Perched on the Kinnickinnic River in Western Wisconsin’s St. Croix Valley, River Falls is best known for trout fishing and the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. There’s plenty of golf in and around town and also across the state border with Minnesota. The toughest of River Falls’ three courses is River Falls Golf Club, a highly atmospheric classic from the late 1920s with several blind shots. Kilkarney Hills enjoys a tranquil, rural setting that is especially enjoyable on the endlessly rolling back nine. Just don’t expect any level lies. Clifton Hollow Golf Course is another scenic treat, but save some of your strength for the par-5 finisher known as ‘The Monster of Clifton.” Minnesota’s Twin Cities are no more than 30 to 45 minutes from River Falls, but even closer, in Hastings, Eagle Valley Golf Course is a fixture on Golf Advisor’s ratings of the top-25 courses in Minnesota. No need to stop there, either. Though the season may be short, the sheer number of courses in the Western Wisconsin and the Twin Cities metropolitan areas is proof positive that the locals are crazy for golf.
