Killarney Area Golf Courses

Killarney Golf

The Killarney area of Ireland is situated along the northeastern shores of Lough Leane, the largest of the Lakes of Killarney, and it is home to a national park and idyllic golf courses laid out around smaller lakes, mountain ranges and yew woodlands. As one of the most protected ecosystems in the country, Killarney offers tee time seekers a unique opportunity to play golf on Ireland’s untouched terrain. And when golfers are through with their rounds, they can hike through the Killarney National Park or visit Innisfallen Island to explore the grounds and ruins of Innisfallen Abbey, a monastery built in 640 AD that was used by Christian monks for almost 950 years.

One of the best parkland courses in Southwest Ireland, Beaufort Golf Club in Killarney, Co. Kerry, is an 18-hole championship track that is a great change of pace from the many links courses in Ireland. Beaufort features a layout artfully routed through the rolling foothills of MacGillycuddy’s Reeks, countless 200-year-old trees and even the ruins of a 15th century castle. One of the more challenging holes at Beaufort comes at the end of the round. The 463-yard, par 4 closing hole at Beaufort tests golfers with its dogleg left that’s protected on the inside by a large water hazard which spans all the way to the green.
