Highly acclaimed Woodstock Country Club is a favorite stop for golfers visiting New England. Listed on Golf Magazine's top 100 list of resort courses, the layout, designed by Robert Trent Jones, offers panoramic views Kedron Valley and the lush surrounding hillsides. This par-70 layout, which is only a little more than 6,000 yards from the back tees, isn't overly difficult, but it isn't a pushover either. The variety of the holes will test your shotmaking ability and course management skills. Water comes into play thanks to a meandering creek that runs alongside several holes, then feeds into a large lake between the 12th and 13th holes. The course also features strategic bunkering, mature trees that line many of the holes and subtle well-maintained greens that can sometimes be difficult to read. Woodstock Country Club also has a driving range, short-game area and practice putting green. The clubhouse includes a well-stocked golf shop as well as the Fairway Grill, which offers a terrific lunch menu.
