Designed by Donald Ross in 1927, Pine Needles is complete with expertly routed holes through a magnificent pine forest with expansive waste bunkers peppered throughout the layout. The signature 3rd hole at Pine Needles is considered one of Donald Ross’ best holes with a small lake and three bunkers protecting the green on this short par 3. And while Pine Needles is worth a visit all by itself, its sister course, Mid Pines Inn and Golf Club, is another must play in central North Carolina. Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club is a great alternative to its neighbor down the street, Pinehurst, for golfers looking to play a Donald Ross track of equal quality and excitement.
