Known as one of the oldest municipal golf public golf courses in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Sylvan Heights Golf Course in New Castle, Pennsylvania, is an 18-hole golf course with a long history. Former host of the West Penn Amateur, Sylvan Heights Golf Course was played by one of the greatest golfers to ever play the game, Arnold Palmer. Sylvan Heights is a classic parkland layout with tree-lined fairways, small greens and shorter hole lengths compared to today’s courses. Stretching only 6,264 yards from the tips, Sylvan Heights won’t challenge golfers with its length, but its tight fairways and protected greens challenge players to play cautiously and hit accurate shots. The combination of classic design features and historical significance makes Sylvan Heights Golf Course a must play in western Pennsylvania.
